This year’s summer kickoff party theme was Pearls & Pours! The celebration included an oyster bar, rosé & Sugarfina tasting, S’well bottle personalizations, and an Eff.Y.Bee bracelet bar. A ukulele player came and provided live music for the party while guests browsed the store & enjoyed our little soiree. We had a fun selfie station made from blooms from Flowers by Melinda, our favorite local LAVA florist. The rosé tasting included White Girl Rosé, The Seeker Rosé, Dark Horse Rosé, and Chateau St. Nabor. We would like to thank everyone who came and joined us for the night! Looking forward to a fabulous summer (and planning next year's kickoff)!
As the summer kicks off, our shop is filling up once again with new & returning faces of girls who make up our amazing team. And this year, we're excited to add some interns to the mix! They're dedicating their summer at the Shore to helping with all our creative endeavors on the web: e-commerce, social media, graphic design, photography, and more. Since you'll be seeing them around the store, we thought we would give them a proper introduction below!
PS - Interested in interning at House of Lucky? We'll be opening up applications for our fall program later in the summer, so stay updated with our in-store going-ons & watch this space!
Intern: Daria Vander May
Where are you going to school? Muhlenberg College
Major? Double major in Business with a concentration in Marketing and Media and Communications
Favorite food? The question should really be phrased “What is your favorite food at the moment?” and my answer would be, “Right now? Cheeseburger. But tomorrow, probably either sushi or some form of pasta.”
What’s your favorite hobby? I enjoy doing my friends hair except I’m not the best at braiding, and braids have been a pretty popular hairstyle so I guess I need to find a few more hobbies.
Why do you love House of Lucky? I love the ambiance of the store. It’s so stylish and relaxing to shop around. It’s fun to find a space filled with pretty things along with a bright soothing atmosphere. Also, they play great music.
Favorite line in the shop? Clothing wise, it would definitely be Show Me Your Mumu and jewelry, Ela Rae.
Current favorite song? Time of the Season" by The Zombies or "Sound and Color" by Alabama Shakes.
Interesting fact about you? I was vegan for a year but now that that’s over with I eat a lot of meat and cheese.
What’s a quote you live by? “If you got a dog, feed it everyday. If you don’t, don’t.”-Bobby Shmerda on regrets. I have many quotes to live by, but this is probably my favorite.
If you could have a drink with anyone dead or alive, who would it be? Kurt Cobain because I want to know if he thinks Courtney Love killed him too.
What fad or trend do you hope comes back? Anything from the 80s, I'm really liking that time period's trends lately.
Intern: Amy McGuckin
Where are you going to school? Mount St. Mary’s University
Major? I'm majoring in Business with a concentration in Marketing. #Marketing #SocialMedia
Favorite food? Tacos! I live for taco Tuesdays.
Whats your favorite hobby? When I’m home from school, I like to spend time with my friends. During the summer we spend a lot of time at the beach and at night we like to go for drives around the beach and listen to music. We usually obnoxiously sing Disney songs down route 35.
Why do you love The House of Lucky? I love HOL because of the mood and vibe of the store. It is relaxing and fun. The store and staff have a very positive feel and it keeps me motivated. Also, the cute clothes and accessories!
Favorite line in the shop? I really love the Swell bottles, and the fact that they can fit a whole bottle of wine! I also really like the T.Jazelle jewelry.
Current favorite song? My favorite song right now would have to be “In Case You Didn't Know" by Brett Young.
Interesting fact about you? I have an obsession with English Bulldogs.
What’s a quote you live by? "Improvise, adapt and overcome” its just a reminder that not everything will go as planned. So when things change unexpectedly, you shouldn’t give up. Just alter yourself and your way of doing things to overcome the challenge.
If you could have a drink with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be? Probably, JFK. I enjoy learning about the time period of his presidency. I think it would be great to have a drink with any past or current president.
What fad or trend do you hope comes back? Big scrunchies.
We did it. We survived another trip to Vegas for WWD Magic! This yearly trek is always a favorite; it can be exhausting (it's Las Vegas after all), but we make up for it with PLENTY of fun, a million laughs, and lots of good food! Read on for a little more on Magic & a recap of our favorite place to stay.
The fun stuff: We are obsessed with The Cosmopolitan. It's our second year staying here, and nothing really compares to it in terms of style & amenities. Get a room with a balcony (and a prime view of the fountains) - you'll never appreciate one more than when you're stuck inside a trade show all day! Speaking of the trade show - all that work really calls for some extreme relaxation at the end of the week. We love the Sahra Spa & Hammam, right at the Cosmo. Treat yourself to a massage, bath, or body treatment - you'll thank us!
But our absolute favorite part? It's got to be all the incredible restaurants. Check out our top picks below:
1. If you're looking for something a little scene-y & super fun, definitely head to Beauty & Essex (yes, in Vegas)! We had an amazing meal there after we saw Star Crossed Lovers, the incredible Baz Luhrmann-themed musical at the Palazzo that anyone who grew up loving Romeo & Juliet or Moulin Rouge will appreciate.
2. Momofuku was our first stop on Tuesday night, and it was the perfect mellow meal with some yummy comfort food. The pork buns = a must try.
3. Rose. Rabbit. Lie. Where to begin? This was our second time at this restaurant, and it's our go-to favorite. It's dinner theatre with a twist, and the food is the best on the Strip! We went back for the caviar tacos, but anything you get will be delicious.
4. For breakfast, we loved Eggslut as a quick and easy stop before the trade show, especially after a night of drinks when you need something greasy!
5. Every morning we hit The Juice Standard for green juices to start the day right before eating a million pieces of free candy in the booths at the show. It's all about balance, right?
6. Finally, we were so excited to hear that Milk Bar was finally open so we could get our late-night cookie fix! The compost cookie = love.
So who's excited to see what we picked out for the shop this season?! We can't wait to show you what's new.

Facebook: mostly filled with political nonsense, photos of your high school boyfriend's new baby, and throwbacks to questionable outfits. But occasionally, it'll surprise you and help you find the exact thing you've been looking for. Enter Babes in Business. When we stumbled upon this event while aimlessly scrolling down the feed, we were seriously PUMPED. Between our growing website, our dive deeper into the world of social media, and general craving for more creativity, we were really seeking that dose of inspiration that only girl power can provide.
Babes in Business is a networking group designed to bring strong and inspired women together. They host occasional meet-ups with guest speakers, which is what we were so lucky to attend this past Wednesday in Asbury! After starting our evening with a really delicious meal at Porta (you guys: the White Walker pizza is amazing), we warmed up for some networking with a glass of wine & headed to The Asbury Hotel where it was being held. Have you ever been? It's such a beautiful, cool space.
After filling out our name tags - complete with insta handles - we joined a group of about 100 cool ladies to mingle before the speakers took the stage to share their journeys & provide some tips and insight. First up were the girls behind Cocktail Caravan, a super fabulous mobile bar (in an airstream!!), who know the ins and outs of PR & marketing. Next we heard from Chloe Masco of Claudia Chloe, fine art photography. We were really excited to meet her, because we'll be carrying her work in the shop SO soon - it's gorgeous & you're going to love it! Lastly, we were treated to some on-the-spot meditation practice with Dana Garced. What a perfect way to ease into some networking!
When we broke into small groups, we were able to learn more about all the amazing women who surrounded us. I was such a cool feeling to be with a bunch of likeminded girls who are all after success and ready to embrace community over competition.
After exchanging tons of (super cute, obviously) business cards, we enjoyed complimentary sweets & Jordan won a Claudia Chloe print in a door prize (a big deal - she never wins anything) before we headed to the Soundbooth bar in the hotel for a drink with our friends Cori and Danielle. The perfect ending to a super fun, motivational night!
Have you ever attended a networking event like this? Who's your favorite girl boss? We love to hear about other business babes, so reach out to us at email@example.com. And we'll see you at the next meetup!
Here we are in February and I have to admit that I already miss January! I am all about new beginnings and fresh starts. As much as I loved the excitement that surrounded the holidays, I was so ready to be done with it all when it ended. And surprisingly, January is a very busy month behind the scenes at House of Lucky! Even though we switched back to our winter hours (and are only open Thursday-Sunday) we've been doing a lot to get prepped for the summer and for our busy season. Here are a few things that we've been focusing on that are getting us excited for things to come…GOALS
Every January I like to reevaluate my goals for the shop and where I would like the following year to take us. This year the girls came over one snowy Saturday; we sat by the fire with donuts and so much coffee and we got to WORK. The process included lots of budgeting, pinteresting, and sooooooo many to do lists (it's basically my favorite day of the year). We emerged with a clear plan & excited for the year ahead. There are some exciting changes in the works so stay tuned because we will be sure to update you as things get closer.
TRADE SHOW SEASON
Ok, so this is probably the most exciting part of owning a shop! January and February is when we do most of the buying for the upcoming seasons. I get so pumped for tradeshow season and while it is a lot of work it really gets my head in the game. While we have already placed Spring/Summer orders for a lot of the brands we carry, the majority of our orders happen on the trade show floor. We have already traveled to New York quite a few times in January and have a Vegas trip coming up this month, which has me looking forward to warmer weather and a few nights out. I’ve already started packing some of our new Spring arrivals (and put together a little roundup of my trade show travel must haves below)!
So there you have it, January! A fresh start & an exciting beginning to an amazing year ahead. Tell me: what was your favorite thing about last month? And what should we be looking for at the trade shows?
